Mar 10, 2026
Finished March 10, 2026; first posted online Mar 27, 2026.
When left to my own devices, I tend to stay indoors excessively (I love drawing too much). My partner is often the one who nudges me to go outside more, and once we’re out, I’m always glad we do so.
Catching the “superblooms” over the past few years have been especially fond memories – but oh, how those blooms betrayed me this day!
I first drafted the idea for this page last spring or early summer, shortly after the real-life experiences during one of our hikes. I have been so occupied by my first longer-form comic I began early last year, that it’s taken me until it is spring once again to finish it. It was mostly finished when I first drafted it – it only needed slight touch-ups, which I finally carved out time to do this month because Duskbirds Comics is in print for the first time!
I’ll post more info about these two volumes of Duskbirds comics “mini-zines” when I have a chance – I just received the printed comics yesterday, and I’m quite happy with how they printed! I will take photos when I have a chance, but these zines will be available at a small indie comics con at the start of April (the link to the blog post above has more info in the meantime).
Early access March 27, 2026; published publicly March 30, 2026.
Exciting news for Duskbirds Comics!
For the first time, Duskbirds Comics now has two print editions! These are a limited run I self-published for an indie comics con happening on April 4 (more info later in this post).
Here are the covers for both volumes!
While organizing the Duskbirds zine layout, I realized these worked better as books when organized by theme. After deliberating, I split them into two volumes of “lighthearted” and “introspective” comics. This is very similar to how I organize the comics for myself. I have a little notebook I write Duskbirds ideas in (which has become rather full of ideas I still have yet to draw), which I categorize into “fun comics” and “serious comics.”
If you’d like to read more, I wrote about this on my sketchblog in this post here – otherwise, continue scrolling down to see a sneak peek photo showing how Duskbirds Comics looks in print!
Sneak Peek of Duskbirds Comics Print Zines
I’ll have more info (and photos) about these zines in the next comic’s post (this Wednesday!), but in the meantime, enjoy this teaser photo below!

I’m so happy with how they printed! When I started drawing Duskbirds, I barely knew how to draw a comic panel. Printing them was the furthest thing from my mind. I never thought I’d see them printed, and I’m a little surprised how exciting it’s been seeing Duskbirds in print for the first time!
Since there is more permeance with print, I took this opportunity to touch-up several comics for this print edition. Especially the earlier ones, incorporating everything I’ve learned since starting the very first comic back in March 2021!
Which also made me realize, this month marks Duskbirds’ 5th year anniversary! Happy birthday, Duskbirds!
